Do them once or do them a hundred times! There are some things so fundamental to the college experience that you simply cannot miss out on them. Whether you go to a big state school or a small private college, you must knock off these 10 items on the essential freshman year bucket list!
Go to a sporting event / tailgate / after party. Not every university has a huge sports culture, and that’s okay. But some great memories are to be made celebrating your favorite team’s victory or cheering them on in the stands!
Get some sweet school merch. Rep your college wherever you go! Get a cute crop top, cheerleader skirt, or knee highs striped with your school colors!
Bond with your new BFFs over midnight junk food. This will probably happen anyway, who am I kidding? Order some Domino’s or Insomnia Cookies to your dorm and stay up late just talking with your new best friends.
Attend a frat party. You’ll either love it or hate it, but you won’t know until you go to one. Bring some reliable friends who’ll make sure you get home safe!
Befriend somebody from the other side of the country. Or world. One of the greatest things about college is that people come from all over to attend! Broaden your perspective and make a friend who doesn’t have everything in common with you. You’ll learn a lot.
Attend a school-sponsored event or fundraiser. Whether it’s freshman formal or the Italian club’s cooking night, go and have fun! It’s so easy to take for granted all the constant activity and adventure happening around you in college.
Go to a nightclub in your city. Many college towns have clubs that students frequent. Familiarize yourself with your area’s nightlife!
Befriend somebody in your hall/room/suite. You won’t regret it! You’ll love having someone you can always get breakfast or walk home from a party with.
Have a real talk with your Uber driver. I’ve had some great conversations with my Uber drivers! Riding to or from campus, I’ve had drivers ask me all about my major, future plans, and more. Many of my Uber drivers have told me fascinating stories, too!
Change your major. THIS IS A JOKE! But seriously, so many people start school thinking they’re going to major in one thing and then graduate with a totally different concentration! Don’t pressure yourself to stick to a path you decided on earlier if you fall in love with something else! College is all about exploring and learning about yourself.
Tell me what you did YOUR freshman year! Did you check off these bucket list items?
